READY TO ENHANCE YOUR COUPLES THERAPY SKILLS?

If you’ve landed on this page, it’s probably safe to say that you know that I specialize in all facets of intimate adult relationships. In other words, couples counseling is my thing!

Not only am I a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist for couples, but I’m also extensively trained in Sex Therapy, Ethical Non-Monogamy, and a certified Discernment Counselor. Beyond my foundation in EFT, I am an advanced practitioner of the renown Developmental Model.

I believe that we never stop learning, so I am in on going consultation groups and attend trainings with Esther Perel, Terry Real, Dr. Ellyn Bader, Martha Kauppi, and Dr. Bill Doherty. I’m not a one-note therapist, so I can help you conceptualize your cases from many angels and perspectives — able to tackle countless content areas.

If you’re specifically connected to the EFT model, as an ICEEFT recognized EFT supervisor-candidate, I offer clinical supervision to all who want to hone in their EFT or general marriage counseling skills. Because I am a frequent supervisor/facilitator at Connecticut and New York Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples trainings (often working with George Faller, LMFT), I really know what it takes to help you understand and experience the nuanced aspects of the EFT model and address the real challenges of working with couples.

Beyond EFT, I have sought out, deep-dived, and thoughtfully integrated other couples therapy models to create an approach to cases that allows for focused and meaningful progress. I can help you start with couples from a place of leadership and not work harder than your clients.

I love my work with clients, but I also love helping other clinicians feel more confident in their work with couples. So whether you have recently started dabbling in couples counseling, took some basic training in EFT or other couples therapy modalities, working toward EFT Certification, or just want to consult with me on a specific case, I am your go-to person when you’re feeling stuck working with couples! If you’d like to speak with other colleagues who are/have been in supervision with me, I can provide you with their info.

I offer video consultations, so it’s super easy to work with me.

I LOOK FORWARD TO HELPING YOU ON YOUR JOURNEY TO BECOMING A CONFIDENT COUPLES THERAPIST

You don’t have to stay stuck. Clinical supervision can take your skills to the next level…

You may have some lingering questions…

Do you offer consultation/supervision online?

Yes I do! Online consultation and supervision is always available. In fact, most of my supervisees meet with me via video conferencing. It’s super easy, convenient, and secure. If you videotape your sessions, I can review your tapes with you — pause, discuss strategies. I have supervisees all over the world and am grateful for these relationships that are just as rewarding for me, as they are immensely helpful to them.

I just want to consult about couples counseling in general.

Couples counseling is very demanding on therapists. It’s incredibly hard to go at it alone — you know you might feel lost, stuck, and overwhelmed. Emotionally Focused Therapy is only one part of my work. In fact, my approach with couples is at the intersection of attachment theory and differentiation, which facilitates a wide lens to couples therapy. I’m also an advanced practitioner of sex therapy (under the supervision of an AASECT supervisor), so we can tackle any sexual issues your clients may be experiencing. Together we can conceptualize your couples, your process, and you might even find that there is room for some self-of-therapist work that will open up a whole new door to your therapeutic process in couples counseling.

What can we cover in consultation?

  • How to start couples therapy sessions with strong leadership and focus.

  • How to track couples’ negative cycle and form a clear understanding of their systemic dynamics.

  • How to help partners take responsibility for their respective parts.

  • How to conceptualize a couples therapy case both from an attachment and differentiation model.

  • How to work with highly escalated couples.

  • How to effectively work through issues related to sexual discrepancy between partners.

  • How to work with polyamory.

  • How to work through the crisis and meaning-making stages is affair/infidelity cases.

  • How to build momentum with conflict avoidant couples.

  • How to dismantle ambivalence by one or both partners.

  • How to identify and work through self-of-therapist/countertransference.

  • How to grow your couples therapy practice.

  • ….and so much more!

I want to work toward EFT certification. Can you help me get there?

I’ve been there so I know what it takes to not only hone in your EFT skills but get your materials ready to certification. I can provide you with a clear outline for your written materials, help you identify segments from your tapes to submit, and guide you toward the areas that will deep your work with couples.

I don’t have any training in EFT, can you teach me the basics?

Absolutely, I can! Not only will you frequently see me at various EFT trainings in New York and Connecticut, I am have done numerous presentations about Emotionally Focused Therapy. So we can do a quick overview or we can lay out a detailed lesson plan to get you closely familiarized with this powerful and evidence-based model. We will go at your own pace and identify how you might be getting stuck with your current couples work.
